Dog Athon! SOO Fun!

Question:
Sorry this is going to be long.
I just got back from the Dog Athon a little bit ago. Boy was it fun!! I didn't get to see any of the shows they had like "largest smile", "biggest tongue", "loudest bark" etc because I was at one of the more secluded water stops, But it was pretty fun!! I also didn't take pics because I figured people would think I was crazy if I just took random photo's of their dogs :o lol plus I was busy!
I was originally signed up to hold peoples dogs while they regestered, but someone called in and said they couldn't come at the last minute so I ended up helping out at the Water Stop.
There is a 1 mile and 4 mile walk...the 1 mile is flat and just along side the lake while the 4 mile one is a lot more scenic, but also very hilly with some rougher terrain. It was me and another volunteer at the first water stop on the 4 mile walk which was a mile in. We had water for dogs and people, dog treats, napkins, poop bags, and some goodies for me and the other volunteer lol We had the best view out of all of the water stops!
It was nice and cool when the dogs where walking, but warmed up just in time for the end of the even and in time for us to pick everything up  But it was cool and we had plenty of water for the dogs along both routes plus Ice Cubes to be put in the water if they wanted some ice.
There where SOOO many different breeds of dogs! A lot where rescue dogs from our shelter and some where rescue's from other shelters, one from arizona. There where also some from breed rescues and some from breeders. Then there where a few who volunteered at the shelter walking which was fun to see their dogs!
Oh the breeds! There where 3 Adult Great Dane's that I personally saw and 1 puppy Great dane! They where all sooo beautiful! And there where a few mastiff's, a lot of smaller dogs like dauchshunds, a very large and sweet St Bernard, an Irish wolfhound, and countless mixs! They where all so lovley. They all came in very large groups so there where many dogs in the one little spot, but there wheren't any fights or squabble. That was one thing I worried about happening, but we managed to keep order.
Other then the water stops there was a lot of different vendors selling various things (clothing was one of the things I saw a lot! lol it was so cute), there was photo taking, toys, the show contest, and there where 5 dogs from our humane society being sponsered by people. I thought it was just so awesome for these people to sponser these dogs! They got to walk the dogs through the trail as if it was their dog and the dogs wore vests saying they could go home with people today if they adopted them. One dog was a favorite of mine at the shelter. The person sponsering him walked up with him to my water stop and the dog immediatly recognized me. She had commented that it looked like the dog new me lol
Oh and here's the real kicker! We made over $138,000!! :D It's the largest Dog-Athon yet for us! Last year it was about $98,000 made so this is a big leap up! It was just an awesome event! maybe next year I'll go and walk Lucas :)

Yeah it's great!! :D Thanks!
You should have heard some of the stories these people where telling me. I almost cried on one of them! That was the team that all had Shirts with the picture of a dog who died very tragically and they raised money and walked in the dogs honor. It was a very touching story!

Oh and I just heard this when I went to the shelter today, but 2 dogs got adopted at the event and one dog that was at our shelter was there. This dog was white and a boxer/pit mix that was used as a bait dog before he came to us :( But he was adopted to a man who brought him to the even and he looked SSOOO much better from what I heard. He even entered the cutest dog contest! :p
