So Pissed...

Question:
OK, we were at socialization class today and like always, Rocky and the friends that are always there with us are all having a good time.
Rocky's behaving like normal... and then there's this German shepherd puppy.
So Rocky kind of has a thing for puppies and will go around them a lot and nudge them with his nose - natural stuff. So Rocky goes and does his thing with this puppy. And the dog, of course, acts submissively.
So then this guy (owner of GSD puppy) turns around on me and says 'get your dog away or I'll make him.'
Keep in mind, this is a socialization class. All the dogs are good friends with each other and my trainer believes that the dogs can work out their problems among themselves, so it's kind of like a dog park but everybody's walking around this large field with dogs everywhere.
So I'm trying to get Rocky but ya know, he moves and stuff and wants to play with the puppy... then this guy turns and kicks Rocky in the face!
I've been taking him there forever trying to socialize him, kind of ruins the ****ing point of socialization, doesn't it?
So the adults around me, my adult friends, and my dad are going 'hey!' 'you can't do that, this is a socialization class it's all natural'
And the guy says 'I'm not going to have my dog intimidated'. What an ass hole.
I guess he thinks a dog being submissive is intimidation. But all puppies are submissive to adult dogs. Everyones was, even Rocky was when he was a puppy.
I was and still am extremely pissed. I told the trainer about it and he says he saw it and he's going to deal with it and that it won't happen again.
My dad was pretty pissed too and I swear, I wanted to tear him a new one... but law suits, court, yadda yadda... we've all got enough problems to deal with.
I'm a little weary about going back but I trust that my trainer will take care of things...

OMG I can't believe this guy!! He should be banned from this place... I feel sorry for his puppy, if it does something wrong he probably kicks him too.. This guy should not own a dog!

I know! You can't just going around kicking peoples dogs in the face.
Answer:
what an asshole!!!
Answer:
Thats outrageous! I can't believe that! Is Rocky ok?:(
Why would someone do that!
Answer:
This guy must have some serious problems to do something like that... I would have done the same right back to him, booting him in the face... Wonder how he'd like that! Maybe it would knock some sense into him!

Yeah, I actually don't think Rocky cared much, he yelped when he did it but he was perfectly normal 2 seconds afterwards.
It it is outrageous, beware dumbasses exist.
Answer:
I cant believe that:mad: I hope Rocky is OK

Believe me, I REALLY wanted too and I swear, if he would've done it again I would have. But right now I'm just going to let the trainer handle it and if he can't well, "I'll handle it my way".
Answer:
That is TERRIBLE.. What a dick. GRRRR people like that make me so angry
Answer:
OMG.. I'd be completely P.O.ed and extremely mad at the trainer who doesn't seem to really have done much at the time.
As the "trainer" they should have stepped in and excused that ******* from the class!!
Answer:
OMG, I would have been pi***d, my mouth would have kicked into overdrive.
I would also be mad at the trainer, the situation should have been handled at that time. I would have to call him and ask him if this jerk was coming back?
I agree the owner does not need to own a dog. grrr
Answer:
I would have kick him were it hurts
Answer:
My trainer didn't he was just like 'I'll handle it, I'll handle it, I saw it, it won't happen again'...
But I didn't see him do anything.
Next time I'm bringing a chain, and I wanna see him hit my dog again.
Answer:
Should that be considerate as animal cruelty?
Answer:
It could be a case of mild animal cruelty, unfortunately I dont think it'd hold up in court unless there was/is physical damage to Rockys face, poor thing.
Omg.. just thinking about that makes me so mad.. I'm thinking, if that was Riot.. I'd have to start back at zero, or I'd be dealing with an aggresive dog that has already bit someone(that guy).
I'd tell your trainer that you thought it was very irresonsible for them to allow that person to continue on in that program. and if that guy was there again you would not be coming and your friends would hear about it.
A trainer with a bad repore is very very bad.
I know that if it was my trainer, she'd deal with it right them and there and more then likely kick that person out of the class.
That man has now become a threat to any other dog that comes to "sniff" his puppy. Hes also teaching his dog that its an alright thing to be aggresive towards anything to comes near it.
omg.. an aggresive GSD is NOT a good thing to have..
*pulls hair out*
that man should NOT be allowed to own a dog.
The mental and physical things hes just taught that dog is horrible and what hes shown to others..

I know, I know. That guy was just gigantic assbag, plain and simple. I'm pissed beyond belief... and I'm actually thinking about not going back because if he hit Rocky again I will NOT be able to control myself and that means bad things will happen...
Answer:
I would've hit him where it hurts...literally.
Answer:
I go with what u say summer people like that shouldn’t have any kind of animal especially a dog that its going to be big like a GSD
Answer:
Wow...I wouldve flipped out! For a grown man to act that way is outrageous. You handled yourself very well big dog...I do not think I wouldve been so calm. These last couple posts are depressing...guy kills his dog, strangers kicking dogs...a lot of people need to be taken out back and shot.
Answer:
I have no idea what I would do if someone kicked Buckshot. My first instinct would be to show them their spleen. Sorry you had to live that experience.
Answer:
wow, Big...I would have been really mad, too!!!!!!!! I would have been in total shock. AND, what if Rocky would have bitten his foot??? what a loser.
Answer:
One of great reasons why I try avoid people in general. Can never tell which one's have screw's loose...

I wish he would've ripped his foot off.
Answer:
What an ass! Poor Rocky was just trying to be friendly and it doesn't even sound like his puppy cared. It's good for that guy that Rocky didn't get defensive and go after him.

If I was the trainer, I'd dismiss them from my class.

I would have too.
Answer:
I don't know whether I'm prouder of you or Rocky, DoggyDaddy :D Good job. That showed an incredible amount of self-discipline and maturity from both of My Boys!
Answer:
I dont know how you managed not to return the favor to the guy, I dont think I would have held back.
Good job both of you.
Answer:
I would have snapped and beat his A##! I am not a violent man but if someone strikes my dog it would be an automatic thing for me to do.
Sounds like this guy was feeling embarassed because his puppy was submitting to an adult dog...what an idiot. It really burns me when people attach their own self-esteem to the actions of their dog.
Answer:
 How dare he kick your dog? If someone did that to Toby, I'd make him cough up his balls! I can't believe some people....
Answer:
BigDog, you should first be proud that your dog has such a solid temperament. To get kicked and to shake it off and act normal afterwards is a great tribute to the German shepherd breed.
Getting angry at the guy is inevitable, but it doesn't help the situation. You did the right thing in not escalating it. When something like this happens to one of our dogs, we don't then want to make our dogs think it's something to be upset about - and that's exactly what we do when we start yelling and cussing and getting all worked up. That guy evidently had a problem and I feel sorry for his puppy more than anything. If he's willing to kick your dog, imagine what that pup is probably going through on a daily basis.
If I were you, I'd contact the trainer before your next class and talk to him. Find out what exactly is being done about the situation. It makes no sense to go back into a class that is set up for off-leash socialization if there's a person in the class who won't allow dogs to socialize with his dog. The pup did the right thing - submitting to the adult dog - and the owner doesn't seem to have a clue. If your dog was really pestering the puppy and the pup couldn't play because of it, then it's your responsibility to move your dog to another area. But regardless, unless there was an attack going on, kicking your dog was absolutely wrong.
I'm kind of surprised that they have adults and puppies in the same socialization group. Not all adult dogs are good with pups and not all pups submit well to adults (I have one of those). It seems that the class is almost asking for problems especially if they haven't carefully assessed the dominance/submission level of every dog.
Even in our puppy classes here, we have separate areas for the more dominant pushy dogs and the more submissive dogs so that no one gets overwhelmed.
Good luck, and I'm really glad to hear that your shepherd is such a nice ambassador for the breed!

I pitty any dog owned by that man !!!! I'd go again and if he's there , tell the trainer that you want Rocky to " visit" again and be petted by that @ss hole, so he won't have bad vibes with future encounters.

Grammy, that is very good advice. I would definitely call your trainer, and let him know how you feel and suggest this for positive reinforcement for Big....Don't let this deter you from training...
Rocky is doing wonderful I am so proud of him for taking such a kicking from this idiot, and I am proud of you also.(((Hugs for both of you)
But, if he tries it again...let me know! I'm not that far from Baton Rouge.;)

Well, my dad went up to him like two or three times and he kept saying he'd take care of it, 'I know, I know', and that it won't happen again.
But I do want to call later on and ask if he'll be at the next class and what actions were taken. There's no point for that jerkoff to go to a socialization class if he can't handle socialization.
Answer:
If the trainer saw it happen, he/she should have stepped in at that moment to let that man know that what he did was unacceptable, not "i'll handle it later". I would have kicked that man so hard he would have loss total function to a very important part of his manhood. So stupid!!!
Answer:
BigDog,
I think you handled yourself with poise and maturity.
It was totally unthinkable for the puppy owner to react in that way. This is a socialization class if I understand, and they were socializing. The way dogs do. No hard bites, no attacks etc. Just normal submissive puppy behaviour.
I would also make a call to the trainer before your next class, and see what steps were taken to prevent this person from repeating the behavior he showed. If nothing has been done simply say you will no longer be attending because of the incident. If you paid, ask for your money back.
I also believe the "trainer" should have taken steps at that time, but if something was done privately then, I would give the benefit of the doubt and continue classes. Only if no outcome, I would not continue to go.
Answer:
I personally wouldn't call ... just show up and then kick butt with the trainer if he doesn't agree with you .This is so unfair when you've tried so hard and have done right by Rocky !

That's what I'm thinking. I don't really know if I want to go. I mean, wtf why should I put up with that jerkoff?
But on the other hand, I've made a lot of good friends there why should I let that jerk destroy all I've done?
I don't know yet. But if I see that there have been no results and if Rocky goes around the pup next time and the guy says 'I'm gonna handle it myself' I'll either react or I won't come back.

Exactly!!! I know I'm still young but I've learned from life is you can't let other people stop you from doing something. I would fight this to the very end to ensure my dogs safety upon returning to the class, but to not go at all will prove nothing. He has the problem, he should leave.
Answer:
Go back, but bring a cell phone or make sure you can borow one. He threatens to "take care of it himself" tell him you will call the authorities on an animal cruelty charge. At the very least it will inconvenience him, or just take care of it yourself.
Just dont punish Rocky by not going back.
Answer:
Ahh very good point by Blue!!
Rocky might thing that he did something wrong if he doesn't go back as well! I know Riot gets antsy and such when he hasn't been out on the farm in a while..
Answer:
Just dont punish Rocky by not going back. I agree. You did nothing wrong. You shouldn't be the one that needs to stop, BigDog. At the very least, if you and this guy clash completely, you can probably avoid him.
Answer:
you could more then likely get him kicked out of that class too if he tries anything again! lol
even threatening.. i'd definately mention that to the "instructor"

I actually just got a cell phone recently. But I mean, you'd think my trainer would be enough 'authorities'.
I'm thinking of just not going at all.. I mean, socialization was always a fun non-stressful experience, and I'm not going to be pissed all Saturday (like today) and stressed (there's enough of that already) cause of some douchebag. I can easily find another trainer and have already contacted few but like I said, I want him kicked out. What he did was uncalled for and he's lucky I didn't castrate him on the spot.
Answer:
I understand the stress and pissed off part, call your current trainer find out what he is going to do with the a$$hat. If the a$$hat gets to stay tell the trainer you are moving on.

That's the plan. Thanks for the advice, man.
