Question:
Can someone please tell me the advantages and disadvantages to both sexes please? :)
Answer:
things like going into heat and testoserone (sp?), other people here can give you a better answer. and also it depends on the breed, like for example some females in some breeds attach (sp?) more to one person. things like that but other people here can give you a better answer.
Answer:
Yeah I mean like in personality and stuff. :)
Answer:
Are you male or female.Sorry cant tell always on here.If you are male I suggest a female dog,If you are female I suggest a male. Some dogs not all mind you tend to bond to owners of the oppisate sex.Although it was not true with Sasha my GSD she prefers me to Norm,or anyone for that matter.
Answer:
I think it depends a lot on the dog to be honest.
Answer:
if both are spayed and neutered, I don't see a difference at all! :) then it just becomes whatever personality the individual dog has. one sex over another doesn't make a better pet, or display a gentler nature, or are necessarily more protective. some aspects of personality may depend on a specific breed....but otherwise, I've never noticed a difference. (my male has never 'marked territory', so I have never experienced that difference either)
Answer:
I agree, Debi. My male has never marked territory in the house or anthing like that. He occasionally does on walks though. It is too hard to say the negative vs. the positive of either sex, because dogs are as different as humans are. They all have different personalities, so if I were you I would concentrate more on the traits of the breed, than the traits of male vs. female. I have had both, and I have loved both, no one more than the other, just differently, just as a mother loves her children for different reasons, but not for the sex of the child.
Answer:
I've had good luck with both, it really depends on the dog. :)
Answer:
I haven't seen that much difference in behavior between the two. I choose a dog based on temprament, etc. However, if it comes down to a choice between male and female, I'd pick a female. Walks are a lot shorter without the good 'ol leg lift every 10-20 feet. You also don't have to worry about them marking where they shouldn't.
Answer:
In general, males are more extreme. A lot of the times, male dogs are either really silly and lighthearted or extremely serious. Females seem to be a blend of both, but um, they call them bitches for a reason. ;) They seem to be more moody than the boys, who are relatively predictable as far as mood swings go.
Answer:
My male never marks anything even remote of the house. He does mark about 10-20 spots per walk when we get further from house.
Yeah, females, especially in my breed are less explosive and calm down alot faster. Also not as "thick" headed as males.
:p
Answer:
I have had both but find male Goldens more bonding....
