Foot Fetish?

Question:
I read that when your dog is chewing or biting that you can hold their muzzle and say "No Bite!" and then ignore the dog for 5 to 10 minutes. I have been trying this technique but it is not working for me. I was wondering how you do this technique when the dog continues to chew at your feet. This is really hard to ignore. My sister-in-law has a lab that is full grown and loves to lick peoples feet, she says he has a foot fetish! LOL I would be okay with licking but chewing hurts! What else can I do to stop the chewing at my feet?
Answer:
How old is the dog? What breed? How long have you owned dog?
Answer:
When he chews your feet try jerking your feet back and gasping like your shocked and whine at him a little. You can whine like a dog or talk in a whiney voice. Dogs in a pack when playing will yelp or whine to let the others know when it's getting too rough. Also, with your current method, you should ignore and move away from him, like turn your back and walk away
Answer:
My dog is a yellow lab. She is almost 4 months old. We have had her about a month. She didn't bother my ankles for the first week or so. After that she began to attack them!!
I have been putting my hands around her muzzle and saying "NO bite!", and this has seemed to help alot. In the evenings she does this the most. I have also taken to wearing tennis shoes and socks which keeps her off of them for now.
Thanks guys!
Answer:
Dogs go through a chewing phase between 2 and 6 months.
Get your pooch a good amount of sturdy chewing toys.
When your dog chews on you, yelp like a dog would, or you could just give a firm "no".
THEN give your dog a chew toy.
When the dog starts to chew on its toy, give praise.
He will get that toys are okay for chewing- people not okay.
As for the toys- make sure they are a good sturdy toy, nothing that can easily break into pieces and be swallowed.
STAY AWAY FROM: Greenies, rawhide bones, or any animal bone.
VERY BAD FOR DOG!
Good luck!!
Answer:

I have found that sterilized beef bones are actually very sturdy. My lab loves them, and though he can chew through a red Kong in 10 minutes, he can't demolish those beef bones!!!
Here's an example...
Or this...
Answer:
Will those splinter off?
I'm not familiar with sterilized beef bones.
They look interesting.
Answer:
Nope no spintering. Occasionally there will be little pieces, but if you get the right kind, nice and sturdy, there won't be any of that. Arturo loves them!

SEe Sbj heading. Great book, posting about it all day today. Author suggests standing completely still, averting eyes and body, and completely ignoring the dog until it stops. Once it stops, praise/click and treat the dog, gradually asking for more and more time. Hope it helps! Let us know how you are doing@
