Dog scared of leash

Question:
Now now, ANOTHER problem has occured between Ee-Sul and my friend. Her dad just bought an extension leash when they don't even need it and I warned Jean, my friend that Ee-Sul isn't gonna be used to it. That's what exactly happened to her. We were testing to see what would happen and we followed every teensy direction. The problem was that when we were testing Ee-Sul, she was pawing the cord of the leash like crazy and whining. She wouldn't even dare to move! I told her that her dog is still used to the harness instead of the collar and the extenstion leash. Literally, her dog was shaking and her tail was underneath her stomach. She was frightened. How can you help her be used to it?
Answer:
well of course she is going to fight something around her neck, she is not used to it.
If you are talking about a flexi lead - they should be banned from the planet IMO.
Use a regular leash & let it hang on her while she is playing in the house. Do not use the flexi lead as the handle will really scare her when it rattles across the floor.
Answer:
Oh man.....who ever invented those miserable leashes should be hung up by one!! They cause more darn trouble than you can imagine... Like the person woman who has her yappy little dog on one in the store and the dog is at the very end of it.....20 feet away and in another isle from her......around the corner and confronts my GSD, Tasha, who gets mad at that nasty little bugger who is yapping and jumping on her and gives a good woof! Tash was sitting by my side and the strange thing goes screeching off and the woman comes around and starts ranting at ME for not controlling MY DOG!! By the time I got finished with her, she was carrying her dog out of the store moving fast..... If you must have something long to work the dog, use a long line leash... at least you have control. Those flexi leashes can break fairly easily..
Answer:
and they hurt like heck when you get wrapped around them bear legged.
Answer:
Kim,,that has the sound of experience there for sure!!
Answer:
yes I was dumb once regarding these leashes. It only takes one time to have it wrapped around bear legs and something catches the eye and wham off the go.... whelt lasted for days.
Answer:
Yes it is a flex-leash. Thank you very much everybody!!! I appreciate it.
Answer:
My brother did something nasty enough to his shoulder with one to require physical therapy. The dog is/was nuts (still is, but his ex wife got the house and the dog with it), but smart enough to know exactly where the end of the leash was, and that if she bolted, the leash would be dropped and she would get a game of chase. She was running around him, or there was a fire hydrant or something- I was drinking when I heard this story, so the details are kind of fuzzy- so he lifted his arm above his head at the same moment she bolted. Like I said- he had to have PT.
