licking problem

Question:
My 3 year old shizu/miniture poolde mix licks everything all the time! This is not just a few licks it is constant licking for as long as he can till he gets caught. It is wet not just damp soaked like if he potied on it but he is just licking. my mother-in-law says who has dogs says there is something wrong that he is deficient in something. anybody got a clue of what i can do?
Answer:
Talk to your vet. If he is licking metals and/or dirt he could be deficient. If he is licking everything he could have a neurological or behavioral problem that needs to be addressed.
Answer:
My understanding with licking is it could be quite a few things.
Poor nutrition.
A nervous tick.
Hot spots.
Allergies to food or environmental.
What food is your dog on?
Answer:

I almsot mentioned that but I got the impression that the dog is licking objects such as chairs, lamps, the floor, the gorund, toys, the tv etc...not that she is licking herself. Could you clarify which it is? Or both?
Answer:

I don't have any advice for you, but I can sympathize!! My mini poodle licks my hands at least once a day and I don't just mean gives them a few swipes! She gets between my fingers and thoroughly licks the front and back of each hand. Recently I have notices her licking the pages of my books (though only a few swipes) and yesterday she licked the carpet, but she could have just been picking up crumbs from an earlier treat. I have noticed that lately she is eating less and less (Iams mini chunk) so as of yesterday I have started making her whatever I eat, just minus spices, spicy sauces, or anything that she can choke on (tortillas, she loves them but they don't love her). I wish I knew what was going on in her brain.

Good luck to you on finding your answers and solutions
