I was just reading around other posts, and I noticed that it's posted that grapes and tomotoes are not good for GSD. Is this true with any breed of dog? If so, why?? My parents have a golden retreiver that goes into their garden and picks the cherry tomatoes before they do! He loves them! They've given him grapes as treats too!! He thinks those are wonderful!! What does this do to them!!? I need to tell them right away! They've been giving grapes to him for years (he's 9 yrs old now)..... it doesn't seem to have any short term effects on him.... are they long term problems?? Oh geesh! Anyway, I can't wait to hear back.....

Yes, if it is poisonous to one dog, it is poisonous to every dog. If a white person eats rat poison and dies, can a black person eat it without danger? NO. There are different BREEDS of dog, they are all the same species, technically they are all the SAME subspecies...of wolf, known as Canis Lupis Familiaris...Canis Lupis being the species name, Familiaris is the subspecies designation. Wolves are Canis Lupis _____ (insert subspecies name) which means that YES your dog (wether he is a Saint Bernard, Wolf Dog, or Chihuahua) is in fact a wolf.

Add Strawberries, Blackberries, Raspberries to the list of poisonous foods. The plants are worse, as with Tomato plants, but the seeds and fruits are also dangerous. As with Peaches, Plums, Cherries, etc, these can cause Cyanide poisoning in your dog.

Tuna oil poured from the tins of tuna are also out, they can give GSD's salmonella poisoning.
Ensure that he doesnt get into mushrooms outside either, some of them can kill a dog within hours.
