Hello, my brothers Pit bull just had her first litter of 8 puppies. The pups are about 6 weeks old they have just opened their little eyes. In the beginning the mom has been very good with them. Lately she has been removing the pups from the kennel and only feeding them once a day? What should we do to help them or is this normal? I heard that she may be wheening them? Are they old enough to eat puupy food? My brother will have the pups for another 4 weeks so what shoudl they do?

Your brother should get his dog spayed as he knows absolutely nothing about dogs! Puppies open their eyes at 10 - 14 days so if they ARE just opening them there is something very wrong.
He should have started supplement feeding them at 3 weeks with puppy gruel. That would be the first step before going to regular puppy chow.
Mom has to be sick of little sharp puppy teeth attaching themselves to a very delicate area. OF COURSE she is weaning them.
