Question:
Our beagle, Shilo, was outside unchained last night. we live on the outskirts of town and have cornfields, deer and cycotes around us.
He walks like he is hurt but doesn't limp. He is drinking water, but I haven't seen him eat. He is kinda shaking. When we try to pick him up he cries. I have listened to his lungs and heart and don't hear anything odd.
When the kids try to pick him up around his chest behind his front right leg he screams. I can't find anything wrong. I lifted his front legs and he didn't cry. Our black lab touched him and he cried!!
Can anyone here tell me how a dog's heart beat is supposed to sound?
Shilo was abandoned. When my daughter found him, he had ice hanging from his ears and tail. I treated him for worms but haven't taken him to the vet because we are short on money. I am an RN, but not currently employed.
Thanks!!
Answer:
If there are no visible signs of injury I would wonder if he has been hit by a car and has some internal injuries.
Answer:
I know how badly you must feel about being short on money and the vet situation. I am in the same boat. I think the only way he can be diagnosed is with xrays and that will be expensive. If it is soft tissue problem, it won't even show. You have to find a decent vet and be honest about your financial situation. Maybe you will find one with a heart. Let me know!
Answer:
I agree with a post above, I would guess she is injured internally, more than likely by a car. Take her to the vets and get her checked over.
Answer:
It is possible that your dog was bitten by another dog or animal. When Angel was attacked we could not see the bite marks but she would yelp if I touched the area. The bite marks were only visible when the vet shaved her.
Answer:
So the dog has no rabies shots & is around kids? Not good. The dog is obviously injured so please don't allow your children to pick it up. Why would you let it run loose? You have cycotes & let the dog outside at night?
